William Hill create market for Jarryd Hayne’s NFL career

Jarryd Hayne

When NRL star Jarryd Hayne made the shock announcement that he was leaving Australia and Rugby League behind to chase his dream to make it in the NFL, he was met with scrutiny and a lot of experts saying he was too old to make the transition and that he would return to Parramatta by the time of State of Origin.

Well those doubters are now starting to change their opinions after the two incredible preseason games Hayne has had in the NFL, including a man-of-the-match performance against the Dallas Cowboys on the weekend.

Hayne has been playing at multiple positions and has excelled in all areas of the game. He has arguably performed best as a punt returner as he has averaged over 20 yards per return when last year the San Francisco 49ers averaged less than 12.

Sports bookmakers now have Hayne as a massive favourite to not only make the 53-man squad but also play a regular season game this year. He has dropped to the odds of $1.16 after starting out at $4.50 after he first made the decision.

Sports bookmaker William Hill has opened up betting markets specifically dedicated to Hayne and his possible 2015 season with the San Francisco 49ers.

The five markets include Haynes average punt return yardage, his average kick off return yardage, Hayne to score a touch down, Hayne to play a game and Hayne to make it into the Pro Bowl game. The two average return yards are set up in the form of line betting as it gives an over and under option. Whilst a “touch down” is essentially a try in rugby league and the Pro Bowl game is an all-star match where the best players from the different conferences play against each other in a one off match.
