2013 Multi Bet #8

The multi we posted on Twitter last weekend was gone after the first leg because the Swans couldn’t cover the margin against the Demons. We then decided to make a 1k play on Sunday arvo with a multi of Essendon -22.5 and South -5.5 for a payout of $3k. When the Bombers lost Watson early, and Stanton copped an ankle injury and could barely break into a jog – we thought our bet was gone! But the younger Bomber midfielders and Bellchambers (5 goals) stood up and were too good in the end. Souths were down at half time but dominated the second half to easily cover the -5.5 start.

This week there are only 4 NRL games due to Origin byes and we think 3 of these games are absolute certainties! In the AFL we like 3 games and we will be combining all bets into a 6 leg multi. For a value bet this week, the Gold Coast Suns are paying $4.20 to beat Richmond in Cairns! Both previous times the teams have played in Cairns the Suns have won. Cazaly’s Stadium  gets a strong wind to one end and Trent McKenzie’s boot will be lethal if the Tigers fail to stop him. If you are considering this bet, wait until the final teams are named an hour before the bounce! If Ablett’s out, don’t bet on the Suns! If he plays, I think this is worth a $100 punt!

Odds for our multi are thanks to Sportsbet.com.au (current odds above). We’ve decided not to play with margins this week – lets take a look at the bet!

  1. Panthers to beat the Eels $1.30
Did the Eels even turn up on Monday night? We are expecting a similar score to Monday night’s game – Panthers win…by a lot.
  2. Bulldogs to beat the Storm $1.28
Storm without their Origin stars (and Widdop) will have trouble putting a score on the board against the Bulldogs who welcome back Kasiano and Eastwood. The Dogs will have a comfortable win.
  3. Sea Eagles to beat the Cowboys $1.42
Manly were in red-hot form on Monday night and the Cowboys will struggle without JT controlling the play. Expect a solid win for the Sea Eagles.
  4. Collingwood to beat Adelaide $1.19
The Pies had a sluggish start against the Blues last Friday night, but from 20 minute mark of the first quarter they flicked the switch and completely dominated the game. Last years B&F winner, Dayne Beams, will play his first game of the year for the Pies who will be too good for the Crows.
  5. Hawthorn to beat Port Adelaide $1.21
Port played well against Essendon last week but threw away their chances in front of goal. Westhoff has been great for Port this year but will miss the game due to suspension. We are expecting a good contest but the Hawks will come away with the 4 points.
  6. Essendon to beat the Bulldogs $1.11
The Bombers are without Watson for 4-6 weeks and possibly Stanton this week (Stanton has been named), but will be far too strong for the Bulldogs who only just avoided embarrassment against the Giants last week.

We are putting $500 on this bet at total odds of $3.77 for a payout of $1,885.

As mentioned earlier, if Ablett plays we are putting $100 on the Suns at $4.20, and we will also throw $25 on this multi:

  • Suns @ $4.20
  • Manly 13+ @ $2.30
  • Canterbury 13+ @ $2.15
  • Penrith 13+ @ $2.15

Total odds in this bet are $44.65. Put $25 on this for a potential payout of more than $1,100!

Remember, only consider this bet if Ablett is confirmed to play in the final teams named one hour before the bounce!

Let us know your thoughts and any other bets you like for the week!

Best of luck!
