2016 NFL Multi Wild Card Weekend

RedskinsvsPackers

The 2015 NFL regular season has come to a conclusion as teams either take an early offseason or get ready for the business end of the year. We take a look at the four Wild Card matches and offer our picks for the best multi over the weekend.

In the opening match we will be backing the Kansas City Chiefs to win on the road against the Houston Texans. The Chiefs enter the playoffs on the back of a 10 game winning streak that saw them overcome a 1-5 start to the season. Alex Smith has elevated his game over this period and has earned a career high in passing yards for the season and has also been dangerous when opting to run the ball. The Texans will be relying on their defence to stop the Chiefs, however the away sides defence is almost as strong and as the Chiefs have a much stronger offence we are leaning their way.

The Steelers are on the road but favourites against the Bengals with quarterback Andy Dalton unlikely to play this weekend after only just having the cast on his right thumb removed this week and he still hasn’t been able to throw the football. AJ McCarron has been solid in replacement throwing for six touchdown passes and only two interceptions but the stage could be a little to big for the second year who only has three starts under his belt. Meanwhile Ben Roethlisberger has two Superbowls to his name and brings a lot of experience to the field with one of the strongest offences. We see them getting the better of the Bengals and advancing to the divisional playoffs.

The Minnesota Vikings may have defeated the Packers last week to claim the division title, however it could come back to haunt them as they are forced to play the sixth seed Seattle Seahawks who have reached the Superbowl the last two years. The Seahawks were able to defeat the Vikings in week 13 as they were able to stop Adrian Peterson and the Vikings running game, which forced them to throw the ball and Teddy Bridgewater wasn’t able to make the plays to secure a victory for his side. Russell Wilson has been able to elevate his game in the second half of the year and enters the playoffs as one of the hottest quarterbacks as he has been able to sit in the pocket and still scramble and make plays when he is forced too. For these reasons we will be backing the Seahawks to win on the road.

In the final game of the Wild Card round we will be backing the Washington Redskins to be victorious at home against the Green Bay Packers. The Redskins have been strong at home all season with a 6-2 record at FedEx Field. Kirk Cousins has been sensational since week 10 with 19 touchdown passes and just 2 interceptions whilst their defence has also improved and they are one of the best teams in the league at stopping the rush. This will put a lot of pressure on the Packers as they have struggled to find their running game this year with their offensive line being fairly poor which has forced Aaron Rodgers to pass the ball on a lot of occasions. He doesn’t have the quality of players he has had in previous seasons to target, which has led them to losing their last two regular season games without earning more than 300 yards in either game.
