2017 NRL Multi Round 17

The 2017 NRL season continues this weekend and we take a look at the best value head-to-head matches to for our NRL Round 17 Betting Multi.

To kick start out multi in NRL Round 17 we will be taking the Parramatta Eels against the Canterbury Bulldogs in the Thursday night match up. The Eels will take to the field with a strong side with only Kaysa Pritchard injured from their top 17 players. Clint Gutherson has the fullback position, pushing Bevan French to the wing, and he has earned the spot with an impressive season. Gutherson’s effort and involvement is very high and he takes a lot of pressure off his halves pairing. We are backing him to be creative for the Eels alongside Corey Norman and Mitchell Moses to put a lot of points on the Bulldogs. The Dogs are coming off another disappointing loss and they are struggling to look dangerous in attack. Their kicking game leaves a lot to be desired and we can’t see them applying too much pressure to the Eels defence this weekend.

In the second leg of our multi we will be predicting the competition leaders the Melbourne Storm to earn the victory over the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp stadium. Despite being on the road in this blockbuster meeting, the Storm head into this one as favourites and it is largely due to the injuries the Broncos have at the moment. They are without Anthony Milford and Darius Boyd, which hurts them tremendously in attack. It takes away their normal game plan of putting Boyd in a position to create and overlap out the back while Milford has the creativity to create something out of nothing. Benji Marshall has been named to start alongside Kodi Nikorima but Ben Hunt should get plenty of time off the bench. The Storm’s origin players return to the side and we are predicting them to show their experience and lead the Storm to victory in this one.

In the third leg of our multi for NRL Round 17, we are backing the Cronulla Sharks to bounce back from a disappointing loss against the Sea Eagles last week and earn the victory over the Sydney Roosters. The Sharks have had slow starts to the majority of their games this season and it cost them again last week. However, we are predicting them to put an end to that this week as the side is far too strong to be struggling in that area. They lost Jayden Brailey for the season last week but they have a great backline and halves pairing which should take pressure off replacement off Fa’amanu Brown. Meanwhile the Sydney Roosters were able to pull off a miracle last week against an understrength Storm squad. Melbourne were missing their superstars but the Roosters still found themselves down 24-6 on the scoreboard. The Sharks are outsiders in this one but we believe they will get the job done on the road.

The Canberra Raiders have found themselves in a desperate situation and they are entering a must-win game this weekend. The side has just six wins this season and they are on the bottom half of the table. A loss would make them hit the emergency number and it would give the Cowboys, a side they will be competing against for a top eight spot, a huge boost. The Raiders need to lock up their right edge defence, which is often picked a part by opponents. Their attack still hasn’t reached its full potential and it will need to click this weekend. Meanwhile the Cowboys earned a come from behind victory at home last week without Johnathan Thurston. It was the first match without Thurston after heating he will miss the season so the side was always going to enter the contest with a lot of energy. How they perform this week on the road will determine how they will go for the remainder of the season, but we are picking the Green Machine in this one.

For the final leg of our multi we will be backing the Newcastle Knights to earn the victory in the ‘battle of the wooden spoon’ against the Wests Tigers. The two sides are stranded on the bottom of the table on eight competition points and the loser of this match will be favourites to go on to finish in last position. James Tedesco has been named to start at fullback and is likely to overcome an ankle injury and take his place on the field. He will be a huge boost for the Tigers who were missing his ability in attack and defence in their loss against the Titans last week. He will likely terrorise the Knights defence that allowed 22 consecutive second half points to let an 18 point lead slip against the Dragons last week. It was heartbreak for fans but there were plenty of positives to come out of their first half performance. In front of their home fans, we are picking them to earn the two competition points.
