2017 NRL Multi Round 20

The 2017 NRL season continues this weekend with the origin well and truly behind us. All teams are back in action for the remainder of the year and we take a look at the best head-to-head matches for our NRL Betting Multi.

To kick things off we will be backing the Brisbane Broncos on home soil against the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs. The Broncos will enter this one with all of their stars back on deck, minus Darius Boyd. However, Jordan Kahu has been great as his replacement and Anthony Milford made a late return last week to put together a man of the match performance on the way to the Broncos earning the victory over the Newcastle Knights. Meanwhile the Bulldogs had the break last week. Matt Frawley has been named on the bench but in the Bulldogs last match he was brought into the starting line up to replace Michael Licha and Moses Mbye moved to hooker. It improved the sides kicking game but the Bulldogs need a lot of help in attack. They won’t create enough chances or score enough points to worry the Broncos.

In the second leg of our multi we will be predicting the Sydney Roosters to earn a comfortable victory over the Newcastle Knights. Each week it is the same story for the Knights which means it is essentially the same story for our multi. They are competitive in matches but they can’t find a way to win. They have three wins in their last two seasons which makes it an easy choice to back any side that is opposing in the Knights. Especially when that side is the Roosters who will be near full strength on Friday night. They are without Jake Friend who broke his hand last week and Michael Morgan who tore his hamstring but the side has a lot of depth and they will be able to earn the win.

In the third leg of our multi we will be backing the North Queensland Cowboys to win at home without Johnathan Thurston against the New Zealand Warriors who will be without Shaun Johnson. Thurston has been injured since origin two but the Cowboys have managed to go on a three game winning streak. All of their players have lifted in the legends absence. Meanwhile we can’t see the same happening for the Warriors. The New Zealand side struggles at the best of times to find a way to win, especially on the road, and we can’t see them putting together a performance that will lead to them earning the victory.

In the fourth leg of our multi, we are jumping on the Manly Sea Eagles to earn the win on the road against the St George Illawarra Dragons. The Dragons will have the advantage of playing on home soil but the Sea Eagles have shown that isn’t a problem for them this season, winning all but one of their road matches. The Eagles were able to overcome the Tigers last week after trailing at half-time. The side raced to an 8-0 lead before slowing down before eventually kicking back into gear and cruising to victory. Meanwhile the Dragons have fallen into a slump since rising to second place on the ladder. The side has lost its groove in attack and its defence hasn’t been much better. They were able to send the match into golden point extra time last week against the Raiders but you never had the feeling they would be able to find a way to win. We believe the Eagles will hold on in this one.

In our fifth and final leg of NRL Round 20, we will be predicting the Parramatta Eels to extend their winning streak to four games and defeat the Wests Tigers. The Eels have been strong over the past month, with none of their players in either state of origin side, they haven’t been affected during the period. The side has been able to field their best players while their opposition has been stuck selecting reserve grade players. It has allowed them to build their new halves combination between Mitchell Moses and Corey Norman while Clint Gutherson has been terrific at the back. Meanwhile the Tigers are second last on the table for a reason. Their defence is poor while their attack doesn’t offer much. It should be a high scoring match which will favour them but we can’t see them causing an upset.
