2017 NRL Multi Round 5

NRL Round 5 Multi
The 2017 NRL season continues this weekend and we look at the best value head to head matches for our NRL Round 5 betting multi.

To kick things off in Round 5 we will be predicting the Brisbane Broncos to get the victory against the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs. The Broncos have shown very strong defence to start the season and have restricted great attacking sides such as the Sharks, Storm, Cowboys and Raiders to minimal points. The side has continued to play its grinding style of football and it will see them be too strong for the Dogs this weekend. Anthony Milford and Ben Hunt still haven’t set the word alight this season but Andrew McCollough has been terrific. It will be a big battle of the forwards but the controversy surrounding the Bulldogs, their poor start to the season, the injuries and suspensions they have all all compound to result in a Broncos victory.

The Sydney Roosters are undefeated to start the 2017 NRL season and we are predicting them to continue their streak against the Manly Sea Eagles on Friday night. The Chooks have looked very solid and have shortened into premiership favuorites. They are very crisp in attack with Mitchell Pearce and Luke Keary steering the ship while Jake Friend returns this weekend after missing their victory against the Rabbitohs and Blake Fergurson also comes back into the side. They will be too strong for the Sea Eagles who are coming off their best performance in a few seasons. The side dominated the Bulldogs 36-0 and it was Daly Cherry-Evans who orchestrated the victory. They entered the match on the back of a victory against the Cowboys in North Queensland, however they will face a strong outfit and be defeated in this one.

The defending premiers the Cronulla Sharks host the Newcastle Knights on Saturday afternoon and we are predicting the home side to earn a comfortable victory.

The Sharks defeated the Knights by close to 60 points on both occasions last season and while we don’t think it will be as bad, it will be close. The Knights had a wake up call last week as they were defeated by 40 points against the Panthers. The side had showed a lot of enthusiasm and positive signs in their opening three matches but they returned to their old selves in a lacklustre performance. We believe they will be more fired up for this one but on the back of the Sharks dominant roster, the result will be the same.

In the fourth leg of our multi we will be backing the Melbourne Storm to come out on top against the Penrith Panthers. The Storm received a wake up call last week when the Tigers put 14 points on them in the early exchanges. However, everything went against the Storm and they were penalised five times in a row. The side was able to regroup and score 22 unanswered points for the victory. Billy Slater looked positive in his second game back from injury while they managed to earn the victory despite Cooper Cronk having an off game. Meanwhile the Panthers dominated the Knights and will come into this match full of confidence. They offer a lot in attack and they will need to be at their best to crack the Storm’s defence. They will be without Bryce Cartwright for the third straight game. We are predicting the home side to remain perfect.

In the final leg of our multi we will be predicting the New Zealand Warriors to earn their second win of the year against the struggling Gold Coast Titans. The Warriors have lost three straight games and they have had defensive lapses in every match this season. They had an interrupted warm up to last week’s game as Keiran Foran was ruled out to a hamstring strain in the warm up. He is uncertain to return this weekend but it is possible. Meanwhile the Titans have their own injury crisis at the moment. Their outside backs are dwindling and halfback Tyrone Roberts will start in the fullback position on Sunday. It is a tough ask for them to come away with the victory on the road.
